Artistic Director & Choreogrpaher of the Compagnie Calabash

He explores the depht of dance and dancing from various aspects. Mr. Barbaste hails from Trinidad et Tobago, his career as a dancer started in 1977, in Africa (Cie Astor Johnson) and in the Caribbean (Cies La Chapelle et Douglas), to continue in the United States of America (Cie Alvin Ailey Repertory). In 185 he moved to France where he began working with Compagnie Rick Odums, Off Jazz Gianni Loringett then  Anne-Marie Reynaud. At the same time, Wayne BARBASTE developed an nternational career in teaching (U.S. then Europe).Since1992, he is the director of both  the Municipale School of Dance in Cesson-Sévigné (35), Festival International de Danse and  The Forum des jeunes interprètes (forum of young interpretive dancers). In 2000, he founded, directs and manages the organization Calabash (Teaching and outreach of chorepgraphic art). With yearly  performances, Wayne Barbaste redefines the imprint of Jazz with fusing both innovation and heritage, that is highly contemporary. The explorations nourished by  the years of investigation reveal a choroegraphic and conceptualized path that opens itself up to discover that it leads to Jazz Nouveau Concept
